At McLean Middle School, students are rewarded with what we call “birdie bucks” for good behavior, wearing their IDs, and being kind and helpful to others. Birdie bucks are an online currency run by teachers where they can reward behavior that highlights our school. While they might just seem like a simple reward, they actually encourage students to ask for ways they can help and how they can make an impact.
Now you’re probably wondering what some ways to earn birdie bucks are? Mrs. Blizzard, leader of the PBIS and birdie buck committee, expressed, “There are many ways to get birdie bucks, like wearing your ID, doing homework, submitting assignments on time, and being kind. When looking to receive Birdie Bucks, never ask how many you can get; always ask what some ways you can help to receive them.”
