Looking for colleges can be difficult, especially if you’re interested/planning on pursing an artistic career such as fashion design, art, or filmmaking. That’s where this article can help you! I have made a selection of 6 different colleges with some of the best artistic programs. In this article I will tell you about these colleges and some information you might find important in decision making.
Fashion Institute of Technology
The Fashion Institute is a 2+2 year college in New York City. FIT has a graduation rate of 84.2% and an acceptance rate of 52.8%. The average out-of-state tuition fee is $16, 750 and other costs (like books and on-campus rooms) is around $32,250, so the total cost is $49,000; but they also have student aid to help assist! If you are in a degree program and are a US citizen you can apply for federal financial aid, they have many different types of aids like grants, loans, federal-work study, and scholarships. Something thats also important in knowing when looking for colleges is how the campus life is. On the FIT campus around 2,300 students live in one of 4 residence halls; alumni hall, coed hall, Nagler hall, and Kaufman hall. They also have gender-inclusive housing which allows students to room with students of any gender.
Majors and minors in FIT-
They have many different majors and minors that are educational but also fun and can help you practice/learn different skills. some of the majors they have are fashion merchandising, fashion/apparel design, illustration, fine/studio arts, commercial photography, apparel and textile, film/cinema/video studies, metal and jewelry arts. They also have many different minors including economics, fashion history, theory, and culture. history of art, pyschology, color studies, design thinking, and film and media studies.
Career services and internships-
The career service they have their is called CSJB job bank. They have full-time, part-time, freelance, and temporary work. Many of these jobs may relate to your major so you can work on your academic skills, as well as earn money. Some examples of what work they have are administrative work, babysitting, and waitressing. They have two different kinds internships you can take; on-site professional internships and classroom instruction. FIT has seen that 2/3rds of the students that graduate have taken an internship.

Parsons School of Design is a 4 year college in New York City. Parsons School of Design has an acceptance rate of 52% and a graduation rate of 69%. Rhode Island School of Design (RISD)
Rhode Island School of Design or RISD in a 4 year school in providence, Rhode Island. They have an acceptance rate of 19% but a graduation rate of 90.0%. They have career service here as well, you can set up a meeting with a student peer or career advisor to help you find a job. They also have a summer internship program where students are paid interns across the US. some of the companies RISD has connections with are apple, gensler, and hasbro! They have many different things to do on campus, like the RISD museum, Fleet library, campus exhibitions (which shows the three primary student gallery spaces on campus), nature, lab, and intercultural student engagement.

At RISD they have several different majors and they even have an exhibition you can look through to see what you should expect in your majors and what others have done. The majors they have are ceramic art and ceramics fiber, textile and weaving arts, film/video and photographics arts, fine arts and art studies, illustration, painting, photography, apparel and textiles.
