There are so many different spooky movies to choose from when looking for a fun fall activity, and we know it can be hard to choose just one film! To help you cut down your options, we have listed some of our favorite halloween movies that are both funny and scary!

This list includes:

Hocus Pocus (rated PG)- A story about a teenager who, along with her sister and their new friend, accidentally frees three evil witches. Now, they must find a way to steal the witches’ spell book in order to stop them from becoming immortal.

Goosebumps (rated PG)- Zach Cooper is upset about moving to a new town, until he meets his neighbor Hannah. He then finds out that Hannah’s dad is a very famous author that writes scary novels. However, when he tries to open one of his locked books, the creatures from the story start to come to life.

Beetlejuice (rated PG)- After Barbara and Adam die in a car accident, they find themselves stuck haunting their old home, unable to leave the house. When the Deetzes and teen daughter Lydia buy the house, the Maitlands attempt to scare them away without success. Their efforts attract Beetlejuice, an irresponsible spirit, whose “help” quickly becomes dangerous for the Maitlands and innocent Lydia.

Nightmare before Christmas (rated PG)- This film is about Jack Skellington, Halloweentown’s beloved pumpkin king, who has become bored with the same annual routine of frightening people in the “real world.” When Jack accidentally stumbles on Christmastown, all bright colors and warm spirits, he gets a new lease on life — he plots to bring Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus and taking over the role. But Jack soon discovers even the best-laid plans of mice and skeleton men can go seriously awry.

Edward scissor-hands (rated PG-13)- A scientist builds an animated human being — the gentle Edward. The scientist dies before he can finish assembling Edward, though, leaving the young man with a freakish appearance accentuated by the scissor blades he has instead of hands. Loving suburban saleswoman Peg discovers Edward and takes him home, where he falls for Peg’s teen daughter. However, despite his kindness and artistic talent, Edward’s hands make him an outcast.

Ghostbusters (rated PG-13)- After the members of a team of scientists lose their cushy positions at a university in New York City, they decide to become “ghostbusters” to wage a high-tech battle with the supernatural for money. They stumble upon a gateway to another dimension, a doorway that will release evil upon the city. The Ghostbusters must now save New York from complete destruction.

Halloweentown (not rated)- Marnie and her kids get a big shock when they follow grandma home to Halloweentown – and find out they come from a family of witches. The town is the only place where supernatural beings can lead a `normal’ life, but trouble is looming, and on her 13th birthday Marnie not only finds she is a witch, but that she and her family are involved in a fight against the evil that is threatening to take over the world.

The Quiet Place (rated PG-13)- If the monsters hear you, they hunt you. A family must live in silence to avoid mysterious creatures that hunt by sound. Knowing that even the slightest whisper or footstep can bring death, Evelyn and Lee are determined to find a way to protect their children while desperately searching for a way to fight back.

Coraline (rated PG)- While exploring her new home, a girl named Coraline discovers a secret door, behind which lies an alternate world that closely mirrors her own but, in many ways, is better. She rejoices in her discovery, until “Other Mother” and the rest of her parallel family try to keep her there forever. Now, she must find the eyes of the other children who have been trapped in the other world in order to escape.

Arachnophobia (rated PG-13)- After a nature photographer dies on assignment in Venezuela, a poisonous spider hitches a ride in his coffin to his hometown in rural California, where arachnophobe Dr. Ross Jennings has just moved in with his wife, Molly, and young son. As town residents start turning up dead, Jennings begins to suspect spiders, and must face his fears as he and no-nonsense exterminator Delbert McClintock fight to stop a deadly infestation.

Since Halloween is coming up fast we hope that you watch at least one movie on this list! If you do, we hope you really enjoy it!
