A Beginners Guide To Hispanic Heritage Month!

Let’s celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! It started on Wednesday September 15th which is also the anniversary of  independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. The day after,  Mexico celebrates their independence from Spain. Hispanic Heritage Month does not only celebrate Mexico but also Spain, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. The celebration of Hispanic culture and their history started in 1968 by Congress as Hispanic Heritage Week. It was later expanded into a month in 1988.

The celebrations done throughout Hispanic Heritage Month are endless. There are parades, parties, school dances, festivals, and so much more! Some ways you could celebrate is by creating a Mexican dish, having a Spanish-speaking movie marathon, listening to Latin songs,  playing games like lotería or creating some papel picado. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month our school is having a Fiesta dance. Come out and have fun with your friends by eating some tacos or dancing!
