Show Choir!

Abigail Walters

This year, McLean is taking its choir to another level: show choir. But what is this new Cardinal choir experience? Read on to find out.

What is show choir?

Ms. Mainer, our wonderful choir director here at McLean, said, “Show choir is a style of choir where students will sing pop songs, songs from musicals, or even songs you just hear on the radio.” However, there is one key difference between traditional and show choir. “There is dancing involved as well! Students get a boost in cardio while dancing, but they also get to sing fun songs,” said Ms. Mainer. “Also, to be in show choir, you do not have to be in a choir class,” she said, “Anyone can participate!”

How do I audition?

To audition, simply go to Ms. Mainer’s classroom, room 220, and scan the QR code outside her door. That QR code will take you to a Flipgrid. Read all the instructions very carefully and then record your video. If you don’t have a phone, you can also go to Ms. Mainer’s website and find the show choir page. Follow the link to access the Flipgrid. Also, if you read the show choir page on her website, you will notice that it says you have to dance in your audition. Since there were difficulties loading the dance tutorial into the Flipgrid, you do not have to do a dance.

When do auditions close?

The last day for auditions is Thursday, September 9. If you want to join, make sure to audition by Thursday. Audition results will be posted in the choir google classroom or outside Ms. Mainer’s door on Friday, September 10.

Now that you know about show choir, I encourage you to audition if you are interested. Good luck!
