McLean Middle School has a new teacher; Mrs. Nelson!
Before becoming a teacher, Mrs. Nelson earned a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in education from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. She graduated from the Honors program at TWU with the highest distinction for GPA. Just last year, Mrs. Nelson completed a graduate certificate in Technical Writing from the University of North Texas. After getting her degree, Mrs. Nelson taught middle school for five and a half years, before taking a break to explore other careers, such as working in an animal clinic and writing. However, she realized that teaching was her calling, and applied as a teacher for McLean in 2025. “Each class forms a unique community that I look forward to every day,” said Mrs. Nelson. “Some of my favorite moments each day are when students proudly show me their work, excited to share their progress and growth with me” Aside from teaching, Mrs Nelson enjoys reading, writing, playing video games and obsessing over all things unicorn.
