Ms Rogers, McLean Middle School’s former Teacher of The Year, is this year’s Special Education teacher and Cheer Coach. Ms Rogers has been teaching at McLean for seven years; she is one of the best at what she does.
Ms Rogers loves teaching, ” because developing relationships with my students and seeing the transformation they go through when they develop more confidence in themselves and their academic skills gives me so much joy.”, says Ms. Rogers. Ms Rogers discovered her passion for teaching after spending time with the special education population. “I realized I had the temperament for it and that I could be beneficial to those with special needs,” she said.
Ms Rogers enjoys teaching at McLean because she believes it’s a supportive, cooperative work environment. She has taught math, science, reading, social studies, and life skills for 6th through 8th grade. Ms Rogers words may inspire you or others to start looking into a passion for teaching.
Ms Rogers says for anyone thinking about teaching to “take it one day at a time, and when you feel like things are rough, remember that tomorrow is a new day with students who can’t wait to see you. A teaching career is all about the heart, not being perfect.”
McLean Middle School is very lucky to have a teacher like Ms Rogers. If you would like to know more about the R.I.S.E Program or any other things she teaches or does that you can stop by her room (117).
