Every new decade has its own type of slang, but today’s slang is so crazy and meaningless that we’ve come up with one word that describes our generation of slang words; brainrot. But what do all these crazy words mean, and where do they originate? This article will answer those questions, so let’s dive in on the most popular brainrot words and find out what they mean!
1. Skibidi
The dictionary definition of “skibidi” is evil or bad. The word “skibidi” was a very unpopular word that rarely appeared in dictionaries until the word took a rise to fame when it was featured in a popular Youtube series. The series was named “Skibidi Toilet” and if you’ve ever watched it you know how many brain cells you lose from each episode. The series is about evil human-headed toilets that battle against humans. The show’s complete craziness was what made it popular and soon the official definition of skibidi was morphed into an adjective meaning good or cool.
2. Sigma
Who would’ve guessed that the 18th letter in the Greek alphabet would become one of the most popular words in the USA? Well I guess someone did. After all, the slang words “alpha”, “beta”, and “omega” also come from the greek alphabet. Sigma was first used as slang in 2010 in a blog of Theodore Robert Beale. The official definition is popular, successful, yet very independent. In Gen Alpha terms, sigmas are rizzlers that have a sharp jawline. Like the word skibidi, sigma has morphed into a compliment meaning cool person.
3.Rizz/Rizzler
If you’ve survived long enough without pulling out your eyes, then congratulations! You’ve made it to the mother of all brainrot. The word rizz, coming from the word charisma, meaning a spiritual power or personal quality that gives an individual influence or authority over large numbers of people. The word has been so popular that as of 2023, rizz, was added as an official word to the Webster dictionary! When you have rizz, it basically means you pull a lot of people. There are 2 ways to rizz someone up. The first is to point at something on the opposite side of the person you want to rizz. When they turn their head you pull their chin and bring it back. The second is to use a “rizz line”. Example: are you the sun because you really glow up.

Nothing but pure passion has gone into this work of art, and I implore you to create more. Every single word rendered me unable to look away from the screen, and I was completely flabbergasted at the imagery you painted with every single word. No, every single syllable.
