Every four years, there is a phenomonon called “leap year”. All it does is essentially add an extra day to the year (February 29th). The reason we have this is because every cycle around the sun isn’t a solid 365 days. It’s more like 364 and a quarter, so to even it out, every four years we add an extra day. If we weren’t to do this, in a couple thousand years, we could be having Fourth of July in the snow, which would not make people happy. So, we add February 29th to the calendar so our calendar isn’t too ahead of the Earth’s cycles. There isn’t anything special about this extra time period, but people do enjoy the special day of the year by associating it wth frogs. Why? Because frogs leap and people are very witty and are so depressed that even the smallest pun makes them giggle.
