You may be thinking, what do we do in theater and how do we do it? Now, while many people think theater is just acting on a stage, it’s so much more then that. In theater 3, we’re putting on an in-class play for people who do not have the opportunity to act or do tech crew after school. We also do a make-up course in October when you can learn how to do Halloween makeup, such as bruises, cuts and zombie make-up. Nonetheless, There’s so many different options you have in theater.
You could be an actor or an actress, who is on stage trying to convey their character the best they can. Remember, there are no small parts, only small actors! Actors spend time remembering their lines, trying to make it as dramatic as possible, or what is required for the role. While many would want to act, there are so many opportunities for people who don’t want to be on stage or aren’t comfortable being on stage. Stage crew are the members who supervise and operate the tech-y aspects of the performance. Another option is to be a stage manager. A stage manager is someone who supports the performers and tech crew throughout performances and rehearsals. You could also of course, be an actor or actress. While many people would want to be an actor or actress, being backstage is an amazing opportunity to learn all about operating spotlights, working the microphones, lights, sound, and transitioning scenes. There are so many more tech positions to choose from, and hopefully you can find one that suits you!
