Middle School hallways can be hard to get around in sometimes, from people walking in large groups, to someone zipping right past you and nearly knocking you over, it can really test your limits sometimes. If you need to get somewhere and you aren’t getting there on time, here’s your solution.
The one thing that usually keeps kids from getting to a class on time is hallway traffic. I know that their are other reasons too, but most of the time it seems that kids can’t get to class on time because they simply can’t. Some of the reasons for this are as follows:
1. People walking in large groups
It’s right after class. You and your friend who have the next class together meet up by their locker with their other friends. You start to walk over to your next class in a horizontal line while chatting. While this may sound like the perfect get-together, in reality this can block the flow of traffic, especially if you’re blocking the other side of the hallway and people have to squeeze in between you and the wall. To stop this problem, you can simply walk more clustered and be aware of your surroundings so people can get by you and you’re not blocking another side of the hallway.
2. People stopping
I’ve personally seen a lot of people in the hallway suddenly stop what they are doing. The reason for the sudden halt is most of the time either because someone started to talk to them, they started talking to someone, they dropped something, or they forgot where they were. Either way, if you have to stop, go to the side of the hallway and quickly do what is necessary.
3. The Stairs
The stairs are hit or miss. You could find an empty stairwell and easily go up or down it in a breeze. On the other side of the bargain, there can be a lot of people in the stairs sitting down, talking, and people on the wrong side of it. To avoid this problem simply quickly walk up the stairs and don’t dawdle on them.
I know that a lot of people don’t do a lot of these things on purpose or mean to cause traffic jams, but just try to be mindful next time you are in the hallway and are walking with other people, stopping in the hallway, or lolly-gagging by the stairs. Just remember to be mindful.
