Summer is slowly fading away. The warm weather, and playing out in the sun will soon be lost, so here are some fun things to do during the next season!
Pumpkin Farms/Corn Mazes
Pumpkin farms are a very popular place to go during the fall, all of the bright pumpkins, the hay scattered everywhere, it’s perfect for taking pictures or just to get you into the autumn spirit. The corn mazes at these spots are always fun whether you’re going with friends or just family. There are many different pumpkin farms you can go to, but one of my favorite places to go to is Hall’s Pumpkin Farm in Grapevine. Hall’s is a family owned farm where they show the many different pumpkins and gourds they have grown as well as corn stalks. At this pumpkin patch they have a corn maze, hayrides, farm animals, kettle corn, and hot cider. Another great place is Pumpkin Nights. They have over 7, 500 hand carved pumpkins to create different scenery! These different scenes are The Pumpkin Village, Pirate Cove, Neon Reef, The Forbidden City, Monster Mash, The Great Hall, Maravilla Lane, and Enchanted Forest.
Six Flags Over Texas-Fright Fest
Going to Six Flags with your friends any time is always a blast, But Fright Fest with friends? It’s a whole other experience! Fright Fest starts September 11th and ends October 31st. They have the whole park decorated with scary decor and lighting while they also have actors walking around in frightening costumes, waiting until you least expect it to pop out and scare you more than the rides ever could have.
Fort Worth Stockyards Ghost Tour
Learning about paranormal experiences is always interesting, wether you believe in ghosts or not! This tour is about 90 minutes long and it takes you through the stockyards, where they share some spooky stories and tales that supposedly took place there! The places they take you through include The Cadillac Hotel, Miss Molly’s B & B, the Stockyards Hotel, and more! You can learn about the shoot-outs, hangings, and other glum scenes that have happened in the area.
Dallas Farmers Market
If you like shopping or even just eating, The Dallas Farmers Market is just right for you! This market is filled with locally owned businesses selling fruits, vegetables, meats, and even arts and crafts! They have over 200 unique shops selling homemade and homegrown items. They have a large building in the center with many different food from different cultures! Even if you don’t buy anything, the Dallas Farmer’s market is always a fun place to look around.
Cotton Belt Train Excursion
Long car rides during the fall or winter are always calming, but taking a train ride is even better! This train begins in downtown Grapevine, then it takes you around 6 different cities within Tarrant County, ending in the Fort Worth Stockyards where riders can explore the stockyards before getting back on the train back to Grapevine. This train also offers live entertainment, with different shows put on that vary throughout the season.
Haunted Houses
Haunted houses are always fun, whether you are horrified or not. In Plano, TX the Dark Hour Haunted House is a must go to, as it’s DFW’s top-rated haunted house event. With high-tech special effects, and professional actors, this house can take around 60-90 minutes! Of course, you can go to any old haunted house but this one is one is definitely one of the best!
Movie Nights
Watching new movies is one of my favorite things, the captivating cinematography, the acting, the emotions and twists of a story always manage to make me feel good. Fall is a beautiful season, and when you combine those two things? Perfection!
Invite some friends or family over to have a movie night or marathon! The movies don’t even have to be fall/Halloween-related! Just any movie you love or maybe have been putting off watching. Some movies I would recommend would be:
- Halloweentown
- Beetlejuice
- Coraline
- Wendall and Wild
- I saw the TV Glow
- The Perks of Being a Wallflower
- Scott Pilgrim Vs the World
Baking
You can get hungry while watching a movie, or maybe you have a big sweet tooth. Either way, fall is the best season for baking! You can make pumpkin spice flavored treats, pastries, ciders, and sweets! Thankfully You can search basically anywhere for recipes. Sometimes you don’t even need a recipe, simply throwing some tollhouse or pillsbury cookies in the oven can be good enough to enjoy while watching a movie.
