History Fair is a schoolwide event where kids create projects about a person, place, thing, or idea from history. You can have a group project with 2-5 other students from your class or a different class. You can also do the project alone. There are 5 different projects you can create. You can make a documentary, exhibit, performance, paper, or a website. This years theme for the contest is turning points in history. What that means is what happened after a big event happened, for example what happened after the American Revolution because of the American Revolution?(I would reccomend not doing the American Revolution by the way)
Tips for History Fair:
-Don’t use a super common project theme. Look up some new interesting topics that are fascinating and you’ll have fun making. You want the judges to think your project is unique, so choose a compelling theme.
-If you’re doing a group, pick your partners wisely. If you know your best friend will slack off and make you do all the work, tell them in the nicest way possible you’re going solo on this one.
-Choose your project base wisely. If your an introvert, maybe don’t choose to perform a skit. If you aren’t tech savvy, maybe you shouldn’t do the website. Just make sure you can actually make your project before you start.
-Make a schedule so you know when you’ll have time to work on it. I know that a lot of kids (Including me!) are procrastinators, so I would suggest making a schedule so you don’t leave all of the work to the very end.
-Follow the contest rules. If it says you only get 500 words for your process paper, that doesn’t mean 501, it means 500. Follow every single rule to an extent. You don’t want to work on this project for 2 months and then find out that you accidentally did somethig wrong and now you only have 2 minutes left until its due. Trust me, just follow the rules.
