Fall is quickly approaching, and I’m sure we are all very excited for it to finally cool off. There are many movies that are often associated with Halloween and the fall season altogether. So, here’s a list divided into scary, kinda scary, not scary at all, and some series that are set during fall. All of these movies and TV shows have an age rating anywhere from PG to PG-13, so be sure to check with your folks at home.
VERY SCARY
- LIGHTS OUT(2016) Lights Out is a horror movie directed by David F. Sandberg about a family terrorized by a sinister entity that appears in the dark. The film plays on the fear of the unseen and delivers intense scares.
- HAPPY DEATH DAY (2017) Happy Death Day is a horror comedy film directed by Christopher Landon. It follows a college student who relives the day of her murder in a time loop combining elements of slasher horror with a premise like the movie Groundhog Day for a uniquely entertaining experience.
- A QUIET PLACE (2018) A Quiet Place was directed by John Krasinski. It’s about a family that must remain silent in a post-apocalyptic world to avoid deadly creatures sensitive to sound creating a very unique horror experience.
KINDA SCARY
- GREMLINS (1984) Gremlins was directed by Joe Dante. It explores the chaos caused by a mischievous creature, the gremlin, striking a balance between comedy and horror that has earned it a cult following.
- CORALINE (2009) Coraline directed by Henry Selick is a stop-motion film based on Neil Gaiman’s novella. The movie follows a young girl who discovers a hidden doorway to an alternate world that seems perfect but soon reveals a sinister and unsettling reality.
- BEETLEJUICE (1988) Beetlejuice directed by Tim Burton is a dark comedy where a deceased couple seeks the aid of Beetlejuice to remove living occupants from their home with very unique visuals this is a great fall movie to watch.

- HOCUS POCUS (1993) Hocus Pocus directed by Kenny Ortega is a family-friendly Halloween comedy that follows three witches from the Salem witch trials in modern times and the group of kids who must stop their evil plans. This film has become a beloved staple of Halloween movie marathons.
- THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (1993) The Nightmare Before Christmas directed by Tim Burton is a stop motion musical that follows Jack Skellington, Halloween Town’s Pumpkin King, as he finds out about Christmas Town leading to a quirky fusion of Halloween and Christmas elements.
