Do you like theater? If so, then you might be interested in trying out for the school play. Even if you’re not in theater and are not interested at all you should still consider trying out.  The play that we are doing this year is Matilda Jr. the Musical. You can audition for tech ( backstage work like lighting, sound, props, stage manager, etc.) or you can tryout to be an actor. The roles for actors in the play are:

  • Matilda Wormwood
  • Miss Honey
  • Agatha Trunchbull
  • Mr. Wormwood
  • Mrs. Wormwood
  • Michael
  • Eric
  • Amanda
  • Bruce
  • Alice, Hortensia, and Tommy
  • Lavender
  • Nigel
  • Mrs.Phelps
  • Escapologist
  • Acrobat
  • Rudolpha
  • Sergei
  • Ensemble

Any of these roles would be great to tryout for. Rehearsals are an important thing about the play. You should let Mrs. Guess know if you have any complications or issues for attending most/all of the rehearsals during auditioning or before auditions. If you’re wondering about the music (because it’s a musical) then don’t worry, because Mrs. Guess has  it on a packet near her room, so if you need the music then you can stop by and grab a packet.

Important info:

Auditions for actors-

  • Monday 8/29 from 4:45-6:00
  • Tuesday 8/30 from 4:45-6:00

If there is any complications with attending auditions you can talk to Mrs. Guess to see if there is another time you can do it.

Callbacks-

  • Wednesday 8/31 dance/acting callbacks from 4:45-6:30
  • Thursday 9/1 vocal/acting callbacks from 4:45-6:30

Friday 9/2 is when the cast list is going to be emailed out by 6:00pm                                                                                  Auditions will be in Mr. Crawford’s room and callbacks will be in the auditorium.

What do I bring?                                                                                                                                                                                              You should bring a printed copy of the music or a device to read it off of.

If you’re thinking “How do I know this is all true?” Well this information is off of the packet from Mrs. Guess (that I mentioned earlier) so if you are reading this then you will know some things from the packet and you’ll also get some more information if you pick it up.

As they say in show business “Break a leg!”.
