Adventuring Beyond Theatre

Adventuring Beyond Theatre

For the past month, the McLean Theatre department has been working on a new production: Madagascar Jr. the Musical. This spectacular show follows the adventures of Marty the zebra, Alex the lion, Gloria the hippo, and Melman the (hypochondriac) giraffe, when Marty escapes from the Central Park Zoo in hopes of finding the wild.

These four main roles will be played by Raines Morrisett (Alex), Charlotte Woods (Marty), Jay Alvarado (Gloria), and Tristan Batey (Melman).

You may recognize Tristan and Raines from McLean’s One Act play, The Three Musketeers. Raines and Tristan played two of the musketeers, Aramis and Porthos. Charlotte was one of our fabulous backstage crew members. Jay, however, is new to our fabulous theatre community, along with many other cast members. I asked Jay why they wanted to do this musical, and they said, “I have been watching musicals since I was really little and it has been a dream of mine to be in onel.”

Our McLean Theatre department is more than just a group of people, it’s a community. Everyone is unique and brings something special to the show. All year, Ms. Guess and our fabulous McLean Theatre students have been working hard on these shows and adventuring beyond theatre. They have made a special place for everyone to have fun with such great people.

If you want to see McLean’s Madagascar Jr. the Musical, please come on May 20 or 21, and bring five dollars for your ticket. (If you have your ID they will be discounted) As for our wonderful actors, break a leg!
