Dia de los Muertos, or “Day of the Dead”, is an event that is celebrated the first two days of November mainly throughout Mexico and other Spanish speaking countries. This is a time for families to remember lost loved ones by making ofrendas or altars with things that they loved throughout the years and photos of deceased family members. Other items like candles, photos, and marigolds are also common during the celebration of this holiday.

Senora Gimenez (a Spanish teacher here at McLean) thought it would be a good idea to wear traditional Dia de los Muertos clothing and paint her face to celebrate the holiday. The  window at the end of the hallway that is next to her classroom displays student decorated skulls and much more of their hard work. Stop by and see all of the amazing decorations in the upstairs A hall!
